Brewery Deep Dive

Getaway Brewing Co: Vacation Beers, Tiki Cocktails, and a Mid-Century Lounge on the Scioto

If you've walked through Bridge Park in Dublin and stopped at Getaway Brewing Co for a pint, you know the vibe. The place feels like a mid-century airport lounge, the kind of spot where you'd grab a drink before boarding a flight to somewhere warm. Rich greens, natural woods, and travel-themed décor fill the space. A glass-enclosed sunroom overlooks Indian Run as it flows toward the Scioto River. The beer names read like a vacation itinerary: Tuk Tuk, Bungalow, Jet Lag, Ash Cave. The same team that runs Seventh Son Brewing and Antiques on High opened Getaway in spring 2021, and they built it around the idea that you can skip the security lines and still feel like you're somewhere else.

The Name and the Concept

The name comes from a 1985 Dodge Get-A-Way camper van that sits at Antiques on High in German Village. Collin Castore, Travis Spencer, and Jen Burton own all three spots, and they share a love of travel and adventure. When they decided to open a brewery in Dublin's Bridge Park West development, they wanted something that felt different from Seventh Son's industrial taproom and Antiques on High's sour-focused bar. Getaway became that third place: a destination-inspired brewery where the beer, the cocktails, and the space all point toward the same idea. You walk in and you're supposed to feel like you've left the everyday behind. The brewery's info page puts it simply: "Skip the security lines and embark on the adventure of a lifetime as you sip on shareable tiki cocktails that require an open flame or a plethora of old-world styles of beer brewed in-house."

Nicholas Dekker, writing for Columbus Monthly when Getaway opened, described it as "your last stop for drinks before you embark on a vacation in the tropics." The bar itself has an expansive diorama featuring a jumbo jet skirting lush hills and scenic canyons. Airplane windows dot the walls. The whole thing leans into that pre-flight anticipation, the moment when you're still on the ground but already thinking about where you're going.

The Space

Getaway occupies 4,000 square feet of interior space at 108 N High Street, with another 1,000 square feet of brick patio along High Street. The patio is strung with lights and shaded by large umbrellas. Inside, the glass-enclosed sunroom (or Florida room, as Dekker called it) groups comfy chairs and a communal table with plenty of natural light. Greenery punctuates the bar throughout. In a far corner, a small brewhouse sits behind glass. The greenhouse overlooks Indian Run, and Visit Dublin's Katie Thompson wrote that it "provides the perfect backdrop for happy hour with friends" with "an impressive plant collection and cozy fireplace that can be rented out for private events." The dining room passes what Thompson called "the vibe check" with travel-themed décor and airplane windows that "transport you to any destination."

The space fits into Bridge Park West, the western half of Dublin's mixed-use development along the Scioto. Condado Tacos sits next door and offers the Bud Box, a pair of tacos plus chips and guacamole for eleven dollars, which pairs well with a brewery that welcomes outside food. Parking is available along High Street or in an attached garage. The brewery is dog-friendly and child-friendly. Board games sit out for guests. One TripAdvisor reviewer called it "a beautiful brewery" with "really good" beers and a "cool atmosphere," and mentioned the cozy fireplace and the option to play games while you drink.

The Team and the Seventh Son Connection

Castore, Spencer, and Burton have built a small empire of Columbus drinking spots. Seventh Son opened in Italian Village in 2013 and has become one of the city's most recognizable craft breweries. Antiques on High followed in 2017 with a focus on sour beers and a speakeasy feel. Getaway extends that reach to Dublin and gives the team a third identity. Because Getaway falls under the Seventh Son umbrella, its tap list includes rotating options from the sister properties. If Getaway's house beers don't hit the spot, you'll find Seventh Son's pales and IPAs, Antiques on High's sours, and the Kitty Paw seltzer line.

The Ohio Craft Brewers Association lists Getaway as a member, and the brewery shows up on Visit Dublin's "Only in Dublin" roster. For Columbus-area drinkers who know Seventh Son, Getaway feels familiar in quality but distinct in theme. The team has created another spot for well-made local beers and cocktails, and this one has its own personality.

The Beer

The beer program leans into old-world styles with vacation-inspired names. Tuk Tuk is a Japanese rice lager at 5.25% ABV, super dry and crisp with Mandarina Bavaria hops. It's the most checked-in beer on Untappd with over 1,200 ratings and a 3.61 average. Bungalow is an American IPA at 7%, hopped with Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, and Moutere from the southern hemisphere. It evokes tropical fruits and a citrusy tang, and Dekker called it one of his favorites from the list. It sits at 3.81 on Untappd with over 1,100 ratings. Jet Lag is Getaway's take on a German Märzen, round and malty with Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops, and a Beer and Brewing review noted its "deep toasted bread-crust notes and a touch of chestnut, with lighter tropical fruit-pastry malt notes." Ash Cave is a Schwarzbier, dry and crisp with light roast character and noticeable Saaz aroma, and it clocks in at 3.84 on Untappd, one of the highest-rated beers on the list.

The brewery has forty-eight beers on Untappd with an overall rating of 3.7 across more than 9,300 ratings. So Boho is a full-flavored Czech pilsner at 5%. Emerald Parkway is an Irish red ale and a collaboration with Seventh Son. Friendly Skies is a Helles lager, malt-focused with a soft, dry finish. Tourist Trap is a Baltic porter at 7.5%. Boardwalk is a fruited gose brewed with raspberry puree, whole Ohio raspberries, coriander, and salt. Dune Buggy is a Belgian blonde hopped with Hallertau Blanc for white grape and fruit-forward aroma. The range travels through Czech, German, Belgian, Japanese, and Mexican styles. Each beer is the kind of easy-drinking option you'd want while lounging in a hammock, as Dekker put it.

Cocktails and Tiki Tuesday

Getaway excels at more than beer. The cocktail menu is heavy with rum- and tequila-based drinks. The Frequent Flyer is Getaway's version of a margarita, with tequila, Dry Curaçao, and lime. The Weekend Jaunt is a not-too-sweet take on a piña colada, blending Watershed gin, rum, pineapple, and coconut. The Jungle Bird is a frozen concoction of rum, Campari, pineapple, and lime, believed to have originated at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur in the 1970s. The In The Cut takes a classic Old Fashioned and adds bourbon, rum, and amaro for something more complex.

Tiki Tuesday runs on the first Tuesday of each month. Visit Dublin described it as "a one-night-only tiki menu, vintage surf videos, and live DJs spinning surf and garage rock records." Shareable tiki cocktails that require an open flame show up on that menu. The cocktails hold their own next to the house brews.

Food

Getaway does not run its own kitchen, but it welcomes outside fare and encourages it. A charcuterie vending machine offers locally made meats and cheese for a quick snack. Condado Tacos next door offers the Bud Box, and the brewery's proximity to other Bridge Park restaurants means you can grab food elsewhere and bring it in. Thompson wrote that "outside food is not only allowed but highly encouraged."

In August 2025, The Pizza Box opened a location inside Getaway. The concept, owned by the same team, converted a small brewing space into a kitchen. The Pizza Box serves Neapolitan and Detroit-style pizzas, including Ezzo pepperoni with locally made pepperoni and hot honey, vodka margherita with house-made vodka sauce, and sausage with Italian sausage and Mama Lil's spicy roasted peppers. The menu also includes sandwiches like a meatball sandwich, salads, wings, and sides. Pizza Box hours run Monday through Thursday 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5 to 11 p.m., and Sunday 2 to 8 p.m. For a brewery that started without a kitchen, the addition gives guests a reason to stay longer and eat without leaving.

What Patrons Say

TripAdvisor reviewers describe Getaway as "a beautiful brewery" with "really good" beers and a "cool atmosphere." One reviewer appreciated the board games and the cozy fireplace. Untappd check-ins tell a similar story. Drew Johnson has checked in So Boho and Friendly Skies multiple times. R S had the Emerald Parkway. Christine Elmore and Meg Fortney have checked in several beers from the taproom. The brewery's presence on Untappd shows distribution beyond Dublin: Bungalow and other Getaway beers pour at Seventh Son and Antiques on High, so Columbus drinkers can find them without driving to Bridge Park.

Dekker concluded his Columbus Monthly review by saying the Seventh Son team "has created another spot for imbibing well-made local beers and cocktails—one with its own unique identity that begs return trips." Thompson wrote that Getaway "will take you on a flavorful getaway that you can find Only in Dublin." The combination of house beers, sister-brewery options, cocktails, and a space that feels intentionally designed has drawn consistent praise.

Practical Stuff

Getaway Brewing Co is at 108 N High St, Dublin, OH 43017. Hours are Monday through Wednesday 3:30 to 11 p.m., Thursday 3:30 to midnight, Friday and Saturday 3:30 to 1 a.m., and Sunday noon to 10 p.m. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. with five-dollar beer, five-dollar Kitty Paw cocktails, and five-dollar well liquor. The Pizza Box serves food during its own hours. Parking is available along High Street or in the attached garage. The greenhouse and private event space can be rented for gatherings. Reservations are accepted for groups.

If it's your first visit, get a flight to sample the beer range. Tuk Tuk, Bungalow, and Jet Lag are safe bets. Ash Cave and Tourist Trap work if you want something darker. The cocktails are worth trying, especially the Weekend Jaunt or the Jungle Bird. If you're there on the first Tuesday of the month, Tiki Tuesday is the draw. Bring food from next door or grab something from the charcuterie machine if you need a snack. The Pizza Box gives you a full meal option without leaving the building. The brewery participates in the Ohio Craft Brewers Association and shows up on Visit Dublin's tourism materials. When out-of-town visitors ask where to drink in Dublin, Getaway is on the list.

Bottom Line

Getaway Brewing Co has held down a spot in Bridge Park since 2021. The space keeps that retro lounge feel, the beer travels through old-world styles with vacation-inspired names, and the cocktail program holds its own. The team behind Seventh Son and Antiques on High built something with a distinct identity. Tuk Tuk, Bungalow, Jet Lag, and Ash Cave have become regulars on the tap list. The patio fills when the weather cooperates, and Tiki Tuesday gives the place a monthly event worth planning around. The Pizza Box addition in 2025 gave the brewery a kitchen without changing the vibe. You can sit with a pint and a pizza, or a tiki drink and tacos from next door, and feel like you've gotten away without leaving Dublin.

You'll find them at 108 N High St in Dublin. Happy hour runs weekdays from 3:30 to 6:30. If it's your first time, get a flight, try a cocktail, and sit in the greenhouse when you can. The river is right there, and the beer is brewed on-site.
